We’re occasionally asked why specialty audio dealers don’t simply negotiate every price. The answer is more complicated than it may appear.
Some products provide dealers with very little margin—sometimes around 10%. Manufacturers may expect the dealer to make up that difference through consultation, installation, and service. Those services require experienced people, time, and real operating costs.
There is also a reason so few independent audio dealers remain after decades in business. Competing solely on price eventually makes it difficult to provide knowledgeable advice, warranty assistance, installation, and long-term support.
Online discounts and open-box sales have also changed what local dealers can reasonably support. Manufacturers often don’t reimburse dealers for all the labor, shipping, or administrative costs involved in warranty service.
At Audible Elegance, we’ve chosen quality and service rather than joining a race toward the lowest possible price.
When manufacturers offer promotions—or when circumstances allow—we absolutely offer specials. But sustainable pricing is what allows an experienced local dealer to still be here when you need help tomorrow.
Price. Quality. Service. You can usually choose two.
